Trust Jesus: Everything Starts and Finishes with Him

Steve Behlke   -

Our church emphasizes trusting Jesus because it’s at the core of our faith and life in God. As our saying goes, “Everything starts and finishes with Him.”

This idea is rooted in scripture, like Revelation 1:8, where Jesus declares, “I am the Alpha and the Omega…who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” As the A-Z, the Author and Finisher of our faith, the Beginning and the End—everything is from Jesus, through Jesus, and for Jesus.

When we acknowledge Jesus as the great “I Am,” we recognize His sovereignty and divine nature. He has always existed and will always be. Nothing can overcome or surpass who He is. This truth should produce awe, wonder, and, most importantly, trust in our hearts.

Because Jesus creates and sustains all things, our existence relies wholly on Him. We didn’t choose Him but were chosen in Him before the world began. And it is only by His grace and redemptive work on the cross that we know God intimately and call Him Father and Christ our Savior.

Therefore, our starting point—the bedrock of our faith—is to trust this Jesus. Trust allows God to shape our understanding and thinking. Trust receives all that He shares. It is putting our whole lives, all our hopes, even our very selves, into His loving hands daily by faith. Understanding that He alone has the power, wisdom, and love to lead us to the best life, both now and forever.

God loves us with unconditional and everlasting love. But no matter how great and wonderful His love is, we will not personally experience or be changed by His love unless we trust Him.

God has all power and authority. God’s wisdom surpasses all others. He loves us with unconditional and everlasting love. But no matter how powerful or wise He is, no matter how great and wonderful His love is, we will not personally experience these or be changed by His love unless we trust Him.

I encourage you to meditate on who Jesus reveals Himself to be. We must allow His presence, goodness, and faithfulness to sink into our hearts daily. We must remind ourselves of the truth of His presence, power, and loving care to the point we are convinced and emotionally certain. In doing so, true trust will grow within you as an intimate relationship forms.

I encourage you to meditate on who Jesus reveals Himself to be. Let His presence, goodness, and faithfulness sink into your heart daily.

When we trust the Lord this way, everything else falls into the proper place. Our lives find clarity and purpose as we live them out in light of Christ. Because He is the beginning and the end, we can face each challenge knowing His faithful love will never leave or forsake us. In Jesus alone, everything truly does start and finish as it should.
