How to relate to Jesus after He ascends - John 14:1-30

What does it look like to love someone you cannot see? That is the striking question at the heart of John 14:15-29, and it cuts right to the center of what it means to live as a follower of Jesus today. In this passage, Jesus speaks to his disciples on the night before his crucifixion, and rather than leaving them with a list of rules, he draws them into something far more personal: a living, breathing relationship that does not end when he leaves the room. The key insight is that love for Jesus is not primarily a feeling we work up on our own. It begins with receiving his love, trusting his promises, and then responding by walking in his ways.
